Craig Berube Provides Injury Update on Scott Laughton After Practice Absence
Craig Berube provides an update on the status of Scott Laughton after missing practice, and after delivering a game saving block in Game 6.
Laughton did not participate in practice for the Toronto Maple Leafs in their session
ahead of Game One of the team's Stanley Cup Playoffs second round matchup against the Florida Panthers.
At the end of the Leafs Game 6 against the Ottawa Senators in Round One, Laughton took a blocked shot to the body in an attempt to prevent the Sens from tying up the game, eventually leading to
William Nylander scoring on the empty net moments later.
Luckily for the Leafs and Laughton, Craig Berube says that Laughton isn't missing practice due to injury, with Berube praising his forward's decision to put his body on the line to help the Leafs win.
Berube said that Laughton is "all good" following the shot block, likely meaning he should be available for Game 1 vs Florida.
Scott Laughton Taking On Physical Role For The Toronto Maple Leafs in Playoffs
Although acquired at the NHL trade deadline to provide some offense to the Leafs bottom-six, Laughton has surprised with a solid defensive game for Toronto.
Finding offense as a Leaf was a struggle for
Laughton in the regular season, with just two goals and four points in 20 games played in Toronto, Laughton has been reliable in the Leafs own end.
In the playoffs, Laughton has two assists in six games while on the fourth line, looking more comfortable on his new team after spending his entire NHL career prior in Philadelphia.
For the next round of the playoffs against the Panthers, the Toronto Maple Leafs will need offense to come from their bottom-six, including from Scott Laughton.
But as well in need of clutch moments that puts your body on the front line to close out games, something that already has made a big impact for Toronto.
