A new video showcases how the Toronto Maple Leafs could have lost Joseph Woll due to injury in Game 2.
The Toronto Maple Leafs are already dealing with a major injury question in net over the status of starting netminder
Anthony Stolarz, who exited Game 1 for the Leafs after a collision with Florida Panthers forward
Sam Bennett, with Stolarz
having potentially suffered a concussion.
Woll was forced to appear in relief, something Toronto was hoping to avoid while being up ahead as they were in the game, finishing the Leafs' win and securing a second victory in Game 2 to help Toronto take a strong 2-0 lead at home.
It appears that Woll may continue to take on the starting role with Stolarz not travelling with the Leafs to bring the series to Florida, making the Game 3 starter unclear.
A new angle now shows that the Toronto Maple Leafs could have lost Joseph Woll as well, luckily avoiding a major injury similar to what has knocked Stolarz out, and may have left the Leafs with two injured goalies on the road.
Toronto Maple Leafs Avoid Loss Of Joseph Woll After Stolarz Injury
A video during Game 2 shows that the Toronto Maple Leafs could have dealt with Joseph Woll out due to injury as well, next to Stolarz.
The video shows Panthers defenseman
Aaron Ekblad knocking into Woll, Ekblad appearing to make an impact with Woll's head with his elbow.
Woll did not leave the game for the Leafs, and appeared to not have any sort of issue continuing for Toronto. At this point, having Woll on the top of his game
at high intensity an essential.
It is lucky for the Leafs, who have avoided a second goaltending injury, which would lead to a scramble figuring out who would replace him.
One answer would be
Matt Murray, who has playoff experience having won two Stanley Cups for the Pittsburgh Penguins in 2017 & 2018, but has only played two NHL games in the past two seasons due to injuries.
Hildeby has career NHL games played, and Akhtyamov has not played in the NHL before.
Toronto is already facing less certainty with the potential loss of Stolarz, and if they were to lose Woll it would be a massive challenge to overcome for the Leafs.
