The Leafs have added new updates on their
their four absent injured players, William Nylander, Calle Jarnkrok, Chris Tanev, & Scott Laughton, with all four having been away from the team.
Nylander, Jarnkrok, are Laughton are injured with lower-body injuries, and Tanev for an upper-body ailment meanwhile Laughton specifically has been out for the entire season and has not yet played for Toronto.
Positive Signs for Nylander and Jarnkrok
Some positives for the Toronto Maple Leafs on the biggest name on their injury report in William Nylander, with the Leafs top scorer
having left the team's first game of a doubleheader against the Buffalo Sabres, missing the second game of the back-to-back.
In a positive update for Toronto, head coach Craig Berube said that Nylander could play tomorrow's game against the Calgary Flames, although there's no certainty as of yet.
Nylander practiced with the Leafs earlier today, but his status for tomorrow against Calgary is still unknown.
In the meantime, Nylander split time on the first line at right wing with Nick Robertson, indicating Robertson will play next to
Auston Matthews if Nylander is unable to go.
Also confirmed by Berube is that forward Calle Jarnkrok is another player who
could make his return against Calgary. Berube had previously indicated that Jarnkrok was doubtful to return.
Tanev and Laughton Getting Closer to Returning
Longer will be the wait for Chris Tanev and Scott Laughton, both doubtful to play against Calgary, but given new updates on what will be going on with them in the coming days.
According to Berube, Laughton could be practicing with the team starting on Friday, lining him up to potentially make his season debut Sunday against his former team, the Philadelphia Flyers.
On Tanev, Berube says that he could be rejoining the team as soon as this week, but his return date is something still left up in the air. It's possible he may not make his return until November.
The recent injury news, along with the sudden return of
Joseph Woll, is a flurry of positive news for the Toronto Maple Leafs, looking for consistency in their lineup, and finally being able to get things going at full strength for the first time this season.
If things go well, we could finally see the lineup that we had hoped to see since training camp began.
