The Toronto Maple Leafs have yet again be linked to pending free agent D Nikita Zadorov, months after failing to acquire the defenseman from the Calgary Flames at the NHL trade deadline.

Zadorov, who was linked to Toronto with his contract expiring in the Flames, was heavily linked with a return to his former GM Brad Treliving. Ultimately, Zadorov ended up in Vancouver, where talks have stalled between the Canucks and his agent Dan Milstein of Gold Star Hockey.

According to Canucks insider Rick Dhaliwal, a final offer is expected to come for Zadorov before he potentially hits the open market. According to Dhaliwal, Zadorov is expected to command around 6x6 as a free agent.

According to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman on 'Leafs Morning Take' with Jay Rosehill and Nick Alberga, the Leafs are expected to be heavy in the market for Zadorov again, looking to the Russian defender as one of many free agent options with the expectation Toronto attempts to get at least two defensive veterans.

"I think they like Zadorov. I think they like Tanev. I think they like Montour. Pesce, yes, Walker, yes. I think they like all these guys. I had guys tell me the Leafs are going to try to get two of these guys."

Zadorov, 29, had 6 goals, 14 assists & 20 points in 75 games between the Flames and Canucks this past season. In the playoffs for Vancouver, Zadorov had 4 goals, 4 assists & 8 points in 13 games.
