RUMOR: Brad Treliving Is Allowing Nylander to Talk With Other Teams Ahead of Pending Free Agency
A recent rumour has surfaced that Leafs GM Brad Treliving has allowed William Nylander's camp to begin discussions with other teams ahead of his free agency.
Maple Leafs May Be At Risk of Losing William Nylander to California
Maple Leafs GM Brad Treliving's biggest task right now is trying to get William Nylander signed for something that the Leafs can afford. However, this is proving to be a tall task, as William Nylander is playing himself out of the Leafs' budget.
Now, a new rumour from Eklund at HockeyBuzz has surfaced, saying that Nylander's agent is in talks with the Anaheim Ducks.
"While they aren't likely to eat cap money, they could take on salary, which is why there are rumblings that Anaheim may have been permitted to talk to the agent of the Leafs' William Nylander... It is widely known that Nylander would like to play for the Kings in SoCal...you can still live in Manhattan Beach if you are a Duck...is this an option for Nylander?"
William Nylander currently has 46 points in 32 games for the Leafs, and doesn't look like he will be slowing down anytime soon.
Ducks Could Look to Add Another Scoring Talent
The Anaheim Ducks are stacked with young, high-energy scoring powers like Trevor Zegras and Mason McTavish. With 2023 2nd overall pick Leo Carlsson also in their ranks, Nylander could emerge as a potential mentor for the young superstar.
Either way, the Ducks are one of many teams who will likely be courting Nylander this offseason if he remains unsigned by the Leafs.
This is only a rumour but the way this superstar is performing, he wants to get paid!
