Boston Bruins prospect banned from team for the remainder of the year
Some major news emerged from Boston a short while ago concerning one of their top prospects.
Bruins' Top Prospects to Miss Rest of NCAA Season Due to Academic Struggles
Yesterday, it was announced that Cole Spicer, the Bruins' fourth-round pick in 2022, will miss the remainder of the season due to "academic ineligibility."
This season, in the NCAA, the 19-year-old prospect scored nine points in 17 games at the University of Minnesota.
#NHLBruins prospect Cole Spicer (#27 on Bruins Benders Top 30) is academically ineligible at Minnesota-Duluth and out for the remainder of the season. 5-4-9 in 17 games for the 19-year-old who was a 2022 4th round pick
Spicer's Development Takes a Major Hit: Will He Pursue Hockey In Another League?
Spicer is a defensive forward with enough talent to make it to the NHL in the near future. But with his academic struggles, things could get delayed. His development will take a major hit, as he won't play this season.
This means 1 of 2 things:
1. He wants to play in the CHL, wasn't a fan of college or the coach.
2. He severely lacks discipline and needs to grow up.
If he wants to pursue his NCAA career, he'll need to get his grades up. Other options are available if he wants to continue competing at a higher level.
Do you think Spicer will make it to the NHL someday?
