The Toronto Maple Leafs have been going through a rough stretch the past four games, and Mitch Marner's latest comments have fans concerned. Find out what he said below.

Mitch Marner Says Leafs Are Playing Good Hockey Despite Four Straight Losses

The Toronto Maple Leafs have been riddled with question marks since the start of the season. First, it was at defence, with glaring holes in the Leafs' Blueline. Then it was in the net, with injuries and poor performances from Ilya Samsonov. This has accumulated into the discussion around if the Leafs are actually good this season, or they just get lucky in overtime and the shootout.

Now, after four straight losses, the questions are being asked again. Mitch Marner, though, had an interesting response when asked about how the Leafs have been playing, saying that they are playing good hockey.

«We're a great hockey team. And we gotta ignore what everyone else says. We know we're a great hockey team. We show up every night. I mean, this last four games that we've had leads, we've played some awesome hockey, some great hockey,» Marner said.

This is troubling for some Leaf fans, who have been seeing otherwise. The Leafs have blown leads in many games, and it's hard to think of their play as awesome when they haven't been able to close the deal over the last 4 games.

Leafs Issues Blamed on Defensive Problems as Leafs Blow Leads

The Leafs problems over the past few games have been placed squarely on the defense's shoulders, as the Leafs have come out to leads in many of the games and can't hold on to get the win. This has some worried that the Leafs will need to find a defenseman to add to the roster if they want to be competitive.

However, the Leafs have also struggled to score more than 3 goals in the last 4 games that they have lost. In today's NHL, the average goals per game is 3.14, so the Leafs need to score more than 3 goals if they want to win. While the defence isn't backing them up at all, there seem to be issues finishing the puck as well.

The Leafs look to bounce back tomorrow night against the Flames in the second game of their road trip.
