Trade completed between the Hurricanes and the Penguins

A trade between the Carolina Hurricanes and the Pittsburgh Penguins was completed last night.
The Hurricanes lost game six against the New York Rangers on Thursday night and they're now officially eliminated from the playoffs.
If you recall, the Penguins shipped their forward
Jake Guentzel to the Carolina Hurricanes in return for two conditional draft picks, three prospects and
Michael Bunting.
Now that their season has ended, the full details of the trade have been released by Capfriendly. Unfortunately for the Penguins, they'll lose a draft pick and the other pick, who could've been in the first round, remained a second round pick.
Here's what they wrote in a post on X:
"The 2024 2nd round pick sent to Pittsburgh #LetsGoPens as part of the Jake Guentzel trade, will NOT upgrade to a 2024 1st round pick. Additionally, Carolina #CauseChaos will retain their 2025 5th round pick."
This is too bad for the Penguins, but it doesn't compare to the Canes' defeat against the Rangers. Even if he performed will in the playoffs, scoring nine points in 11 games with the Hurricanes, Guentzel couldn't make the difference and lead the team to victory.
He'll now be a free agent and his situation will be interesting to follow in the offseason.
