Draisaitl Hints at a Future Without Connor Mcdavid in a New Interview

When you think of the Edmonton Oilers, you think of Connor Mcdavid and Leon Draisaitl. The duo have been playing together for nearly ten years. certifiying themselves as the best duo in hockey. Leon Draisaitl is a pending UFA in 2025, and his future in Edmonton is uncertain.

After various attempts at lifting the Stanley Cup with his partner Connor Mcdavid, the duo has failed numerous times, never making the Stanley Cup Final.

The German Sensation is entering his prime years and is hungry then ever to win the Stanley Cup. If the Oilers fail to prove their identity as contenders yet again this season, Leon's future in Edmonton can be short lived. Leon is at the point of his career where he has solidified himself as a top 3 player in the NHL.


After numerous claims of being "carried" by Connor Mcdavid, Leon has proved those claims to be false after winning the hart trophy in the 2019-2020 season. In a recent interview about his next contract: The 28 year old mentionned that he and Mcdavid are thinking for themselves, amid rumours of them wanting to stick together. This statement caused Oilers fans to feel uncertain about his future with the Oilers.


Best Star Forward on the market since Artemi Panarin?



Number 29 on the oilers can very well see himself test the market in 2025, having no doubt he will receive a huge payday by any team in the NHL.

For him, there is reason to believe he isn't thinking about the money, but thinking about the bigger picture, which is hoisting the Stanley Cup with the best possible fit. With the salary cap rising, we expect Draisaitl to become the highest payed player in the National Hockey League whether he signs with Edmonton or not.
