They may be acquiring a top-six forward, which could be the most brilliant move for the Avalanche before the clock strikes 3 p.m. ET on Friday. According to Adrian Dater, there's some buzz that they're eyeing a former player for a reunion.
In a recent post on X, Dater reported that the Colorado Avalanche is considering bringing back 29-year-old forward Alex Kerfoot.
If you're unfamiliar, Kerfoot's got quite the backstory. Initially drafted by the New Jersey Devils in 2012, he opted not to sign with them. Instead, after wrapping up his college career at Harvard in 2017, he inked a two-year entry-level deal with the Avalanche. During his stint in Colorado, Kerfoot scored 34 goals and 85 points in 157 games.
Last summer, Kerfoot hit the free-agent market and landed with the Arizona Coyotes for the 2023-24 season. So far, he's tallied ten goals and 35 points in 61 games.
Now, bringing Kerfoot back could be the missing piece for the Avalanche or any other top-tier team, especially slotting him into a bottom-six role. It's one to keep an eye on!
