Insider drops Major bombshell regarding the Golden Knights trade plans
The defending champs are going for that repeat. The Vegas Golden Knights have again accrued $9.5 million in cap space to play with, thanks to their captain, Mark Stone hitting the long-term injured reserve. According to Elliot Friedman, they're aiming to snag the top forward out there, and that might be Jake Guentzel from the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Trade Rumors and Reunion Talks
The Knights pulled a similar move in the same situation last year when they picked up Ivan Barbashev from the Blues.
Now, they're eyeing not just one but potentially two wingers this time. As for the goalie situation, it's interesting. If the goalie market was hotter, they might consider diving into that pool, too.
It's also possible they'll be eyeing a reunion with their original golden misfit, Reilly Smith, who got shipped off to Pittsburgh last summer. Yet they'd have to take on his full $5 million cap hit for the next three years since there's no retention in the deal.
According to the Jeff Marek Show, Elliotte thinks that if Pittsburgh's after young pros, Vegas has a stash of AHL and borderline AHL prospects to offer.
