BREAKING: Erik Karlsson has been traded
After months (if not years) of waiting, Erik Karlsson is finally traded!
Karlsson Traded
The San Jose Sharks finally accepted an offer for the star defenseman.
The three-time Norris winner will play in Pittsburgh next season! The Montreal Canadiens are the third team involved in the deal.
"WE HAVE BIG TRADE NEWS TO ANNOUNCE 🚨
The Penguins have acquired defenseman Erik Karlsson, forward Rem Pitlick, forward Dillon Hamaliuk and a 2026 third-round draft pick in a three-team trade involving the San Jose Sharks and Montreal Canadiens."
"TRADE ALERT:
To PIT: Erik Karlsson, Rem Pitlick, Hamaliuk and San Jose's 2026 third-round draft pick.
TO SJ: Pittsburgh's 2024 first-round draft pick, Granlund, Rutta and Hoffman.
TO MTL: acquires Pittsburgh's 2025 second-round draft pick, Jeff Petry, Casey DeSmith, Legare." "Pittsburgh and San Jose are completing an Erik Karlsson trade. Third team is Montreal."
"I'm hearing that Granlund is going to #SJSharks in a Karlsson trade, and I THINK Petry is being re-routed to Montreal. Not sure about other pieces. It does sound like it's happening today"
"Erik Karlsson, traded to PIT, is an elite offensive defenceman coming off one of the greatest offensive seasons we've ever seen from a blueliner. Amazing passer, excellent shot. Also an extremely poor defender who sacrifices a lot to make that offence happen. #LetsGoPens"
Wow! This is major news for Kyle Dubas and the Penguins.
Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, and Kris Letang will finally get some help to carry the team in the playoffs.
We can't wait to see him in the Pens uniform!
Also, Jeff Petry is going back to Montreal.
Updates will follow.
