The Montreal Canadiens' new forward, Kirby Dach, will have to sign his new contract by the start of the season.

The site The Hockey Writers has offered some comparables.

First, Jesperi Kotkaniemi, who signed for eight seasons at $4.82M per year. It would be highly unlikely that this type of contract would happen for Dach before he signed a two-year bridge deal, but it gives a good idea.

The other comparable would be Casey Mittlestadt of the Buffalo Sabres, who signed a three-year bridge deal worth $2.5 million annually.

Finally, Nolan Patrick, the Flyers' former second overall pick, has a contract that will pay him $1.2M per year through next year.

So, looking at the comparables above, two were top-10 draft picks and have been dealing with injuries.

So it wouldn't be surprising to see Dach sign between $875,000 and $2.75M per year.
