Insider Stéphane Leroux was on 98.5 Sports to comment on the trade between the Penguins and the Habs, sending Jeff Petry and Ryan Poehling to Pittsburgh. He weighed in on the loss of another of the team's first-round picks.
"The legacy is good in terms of prospects. I think the last few drafts of Trevor Timmins have been very good. But the legacy in terms of salary management, that's not obvious." - Stephane Leroux
Leroux was quick to criticize an embarrassing decision by Marc Bergevin.
But Mike Hoffman, seriously... the year before he came back with the St. Louis Blues on a professional tryout. Then at the end of the year, the Habs pick up this guy and give him 4.5 million for 3 years. In my opinion, he would have come to Montreal for 1 or 1.5 million per year [...] You didn't want to give Phillip Danault $500,000 more to keep him in Montreal, but you give Mike Hoffman $4.5 million! It's a disaster this case." - Stéphane Leroux It's hard not to disagree with the sports journalist...
