Tampa Bay Lightning general manager Julien BriseBois had to find a way to convince Ryan McDonagh to waive his no-trade clause and accept a trade to Nashville.
« The way it was described to me was ... and I don't think he was thrilled to go to Nashville at this point ... and he has some control with the no-trade clause but the no-trade clause is not a no-move," Nick Kypreos said Monday.
According to the former player, this clause allowed the Lightning to make a deal with the Columbus Blue Jackets in which they would have claimed Ryan McDonagh.
« And apparently if he didn't agree to be traded, he was going to be sent to the ballot, and Tampa had a commitment from Columbus to claim him, that's what I heard," Kypreos revealed.
"And now it's "Do you want to go to Columbus or do you want to go to Nashville?" »
Still, it's a pain in the ass for a guy who gave his all to win two Stanley Cups for your club.
