The Rangers had a heck of a playoffs run unfortunately they couldn't beat the Lightning monster.
Fans were surprised why head coach Gerard Gallant benched one of their most promising prospects.
He finally revealed the reason why he scratched future star Kaapa Kakko.

Gerard Gallant said the decision to scratch Kaapo Kakko was just about dressing the best lineup at that time. Gerard Gallant said he scratched Kaapo Kakko in Game 6 because he was «trying to win a hockey game.» It was a coaches decision. He said he likes Kakko, feels he's going to be a big part of next season for the Rangers. He'd be disappointed if Kakko and Lafreniere aren't top 6.
