Auston Matthews will be on the cover of NHL22 for the second time in three seasons. Matthews also starred in NHL20.
While the news is fantastic for Leafs fans, it hasn't gone over well in other areas. A brief look at social media tells the story.
The reactions weren't all bad, however. Some Leafs fans took the opportunity to have some fun with their poster boy gracing the cover twice in 3 years.
Regardless of what we as fans may think, the NHL and EA Sports recognized a massive opportunity to market one of the game's brightest stars in one of the game's largest markets. It is a business after all.
