Cole Caufield has the ability to score goals in the NHL. We know he might be the Habs' top scorer next year at 21.
Quinton Byfield topped journalist Scott Wheeler's top 50 list of the league's finest prospects for next season, followed by Cole Caufield and defender Owen Power.
Most intriguing is Wheeler's prediction that Caufield will score 40 goals in his heyday. It's possible for the American to score even more if he acquires good players. Could he beat Max Pacioretty's 39-goal record?
In any event, if Caufield can replicate his last season's dramatic leap from NCAA player to significant playoff forward for the Habs, he will be close. We shouldn't put him under too much pressure, but he's already responding nicely.
