Brad Marchand Intentionally Injures Rookie Matthew Knies With a Dirty Play
The Toronto Maple Leafs are facing off against the Boston Bruins tonight. Unfortunately for one Leafs rookie, he has left the game and not returned.
Knies Leaves Game After Hit From Marchand
The rookie forward left the game a little bit past the halfway mark of the 1st period after he was interfered with by Brad Marchand. The Leafs forward was skating towards the slot in an effort to pick up a rebound left by Auston Matthews when Marchand came in and laid out the 21-year-old.
Knies Does Not Return For Second Period
Unfortunately for the Leafs, Knies has not returned to the game since. The game is now in the second period, so he had a full intermission to recover if it was just a minor injury. This could mean the rookie is dealing with something more serious after the play.
Knies had a lengthy conversation with the Leafs trainer on the bench while clutching his hand the entire time. It took a few minutes but he finally elected to head to the Leafs dressing room and is yet to return.
Naturally, there was no call on the play, angering many Leafs fans. be sure to stay tuned for updates on this rapidly evolving story as they come out.
