The Winnipeg Jets 2023-24 season is bound to be an interesting one, and after moving out several veterans this summer, they'll be relying on plenty of youth to find their footing in the NHL.
A devastating loss
While the pre-season doesn't matter for wins and losses, injuries can unfortunately derail a team, and for the Jets, they'll be holding their breath on a young blue liner after Thursday's game.
During the game, young defenseman Ville Heinola was hit along the boards, and unfortunately had to be helped off the ice, which is exactly what this team didn't want to see on the eve of the season.
The Jets social media have since declared this a lower-body injury and revealed he won't return to the game, and now, the Jets will be keeping a close eye on him as their season opener is less than a week away.
