While much of the attention this summer in Toronto has gone to Auston Matthews' extension and the arrival of Max Domi, Ryan Reaves and John Klingberg, Tyler Bertuzzi has slid into the teams top line quite nicely.

A stellar first goal

In the team's latest pre-season affair, Bertuzzi got his Maple Leafs scoring started, as he took a loose puck against his former team the Detroit Red Wings and scored an absolute beauty.

This comes on the back of a solid training camp and pre-season, and after the hole that Michael Bunting left on this team in free agency, Bertuzzi is key to the success of this high powered Maple Leafs offensive group.

Bertuzzi has long been a solid player for Detroit and Boston, and after a career high 62 points in 2021-22 for Detroit, if he can be this effective alongside Matthews and Marner in 2023-24, the expectations are very high in Toronto.
