Auston Matthews got a bit heated in an already tense matchup vs the Chicago Blackhawks, taking aim at a former Leafs teammate.

Matthews Squares Up Former Teammate

Auston Matthews got into a tense argument with former teammate Nick Foligno, with the two almost coming to blows in the third period. Matthews and Foligno got into a verbal encounter after play was blown dead, with the two looking ready to fight before being broken up by the refs.
The initial fight happened minutes earlier, with a fight breaking out between Ryan Reaves of Toronto and Seth Jones of Chicago.
Leafs forward Noah Gregor got into a scramble moments later with Blackhawks forward Ryan Donato, with Gregor getting a 2 minute minor.
Foligno played alongside Matthews and the Toronto Maple Leafs in the COVID-shortened 2020-21 NHL Season, having 4 points in 7 regular season games, but struggled in the playoffs due to injuries, with just 1 point in 4 games in a shock loss to the Montreal Canadiens in 7 Games.
The Leafs haven't been afraid to play physical against Connor Bedard and the Chicago Blackhawks, and in a back-and-forth battle at 3-3, both sides have shown intensity in battling throughout, something Leafs fans have been hoping to see more of and for Blackhawks fans the much needed effort.
