Maple Leafs goaltender Joseph Woll spoke to reporters on Friday and commented on his readiness to return to the ice and make his season debut in the process.
Having recently returned to action after spending time away from the team, Woll was brought up to assist
Dennis Hildeby while
Anthony Stolarz recovers from an injury.
Getting a chance to speak to reporters after the team's practice on Friday, oll made it clear he feels ready whenever the Leafs decide to use him:
Joseph Woll says he's good to go whenever Leafs call his number.
With questions about when Woll is going to make his season debut, Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube also addressed Woll's status with reporters.
What Craig Berube's comments suggest about the Leafs' goaltending plan
While not being overly committal one way or another about him starting on Saturday against Chicago, the head coach's comments side with the possibility that he would start the goaltender:
I'm not sure yet, but thinking about it, definitely.
With Stolarz out, Berube will be choosing between Woll and Dennis Hildeby for the time being.
The head coach noted previously that he was confident Woll was close to returning, and with the latest injury to Stolarz and losing
Cayden Primeau to the Hurricanes via waivers; Berube's comments now fall in line with his preceding statements.
Berube has not confirmed who will start on Saturday night, but his comments point to Woll being a strong option.
