The future of Max Domi with the Toronto Maple Leafs has become uncertain according to a new report.

Domi has come under fire for his performance against the Florida Panthers in the Stanley Cup playoffs, and questions over his play overall this season as a Toronto Maple Leaf.
Domi, 30, has five points in 11 playoff games for Toronto this postseason, and a highly inconsistent performance throughout the playoffs, including in Game 5 where he struggled with penalty issues and choices made, but ending with an assist.
Domi had just eight goals and 33 points in 74 games in the regular season, a bit of a disappointment by his prior standards, but also not reflected are poor penalty calls and inability to maintain his composure, leading to either power play chances or turnovers, both of which have cost the Leafs goals.
On The Athletic's 'Leaf Report' podcast, hosts James Mirtle and Jonas Siegel discussed the struggles impacting Domi, and speculated on if this season is Domi's last with the blue & white in Toronto.

Speculation Begins On The Future Of Max Domi in Toronto

Siegel started off by pointing to moments in which Domi could have been beneched in the regular season, but continued to see consistent action in the Leafs lineup.
There were so many points in the year where you could have scratched him and it would have been like "yeah that makes sense", but they didn't and Domi kept playing and playing.

Mirtle responded in saying that he "wouldn't be shocked to see Domi scratched for game 6", leaving him as an outsider for the Leafs must-win match.
Mirtle then followed up further by saying that "there's no way they want to bring him back next year after this", referring to the Maple Leafs front office, and that it's hard to imagine "takers" from other teams for his current contract, signed until 2028 at $3.75m annually.
With the salary cap going up, a deal involving Domi isn't impossible, but will cost the Leafs a bit to dump him out, something at least beneficial with the rising cap to have the space to potentially retain.
