P.K. Subban Calls Out Maple Leafs in Fiery Rant: 'Repeating the Same Mistakes Is the Definition of Insanity'

Former NHLer and current analyst P.K. Subban ripped the Toronto Maple Leafs for following their same mistakes yet again.
Subban, the longtime NHL defenseman familiar with the Leafs as a former member of the rival Montreal Canadiens, criticized Toronto's performance after their
Game 5 loss to Florida blown out 6-1, criticizing the team's inability to grow out of disappointing playoff performances.
We look at the past 21 years, they've had two series wins in 21 years, and in the past 11 years they've had one.
So we look at this, GM's Dave Nonis, Lou Lamiorello, Kyle Dubas, Brad Treliving, we've got five coaches here.
The point is, the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again" and (Brendan) Shanahan has to be asking "what am I going to do?", but he also has to look at himself in the mirror, he's gone out and acquired all these coaches, GM's, he put the players in this position, it hasn't worked out. - PK Subban
PK Subban Says Leadership Change Needed If Leafs Lose To Panthers
PK Subban continued his comments, stressing further to his point on the Leafs consistent struggles that a change at the top may be what needs to come next for the Leafs.
If they (Toronto) lose this series, there has to be a change with leadership, and it's not about pointing fingers, it's the facts. - Subban
Subban's comments suggest that the issues with the Leafs go further than just coaching and GM changes, his points about Shanahan bring questions over the Leafs President's tenure, which has come with regular season success but little to show in the playoffs.
Subban suggests a culture change may be needed in Toronto, although the rotating door of Leafs GM's and Coaches had been one issue with the Leafs he's taken aim at.
The only changes that can be made to shake up the Leafs roster may come from the two areas left untouched, upper management and the team itself.
Mitch Marner and
John Tavares are both in the final year of their contracts, as is Shanahan's contract with MLSE, an area that has gone less noticed than the Leafs star players, but holds as much weight in the overall power structure of the team.
It has been Shanahan who in the last decade created a constant change in Toronto with the lineup, and their consistent pieces, the core-four + Dubas/Keefe were unable to get the job done.
After having both a longstanding Head Coach and GM duo moved out to make way for Berube & Treliving, Toronto is at risk of being in the same place with different pieces running the show.
Subban has made clear that the last decade has come from Shanahan's leadership, and he's the one with the power to fix what the team feels is holding them back.
All that's left beyond a front office change is the roster. Shanahan has not indicated he would want to lose Marner or Tavares, but it would be a massive shake-up if one or both were to exit, a bigger and more clear restructuring than the dismissals of Dubas & Keefe.
If the Toronto Maple Leafs lose to the Florida Panthers, one of those major names may be walking out the door in the Leafs most drastic cultural shift yet.
