Maple Leafs Troll Senators on Social Media After Series Win

With the first round complete between Toronto and Ottawa, the Leafs head back home to start a series against Florida meanwhile the Senators are going to clean out their lockers and head to the golf course. They made a good run of it, but the experience edged out the youth in the Battle of Ontario.

Senators fans were none too pleased, as the team serenaded the Maple Leafs with chants of "Let's Go Florida!" as a way to voice their disdain for the loss and hoping for their provincial rivals' downfall next round.

But it wasn't just the nation's capital that was getting in on the fun, and the Maple Leafs returned the favor in kind, rubbing in the Senators loss.

The caption on the empty net goal that William Nylander scored echoes the game towels the Senators displayed that read 'Heart over Hype' and made fun of the fact that sometimes heart isn't enough to get it done.

But it didn't stop there, as the Maple Leafs' Instagram page also decided to use the same caption in order to throw a bit more shade at their rivals.

It's a hilarious bit of back and forth that gives the Maple Leafs the last laugh, because regardless of how badly the Senators and their fans want to see the downfall of Toronto, the fact remains they made it through and Ottawa didn't.

While you can't deny the heart the Senators had, the serious hype around the Maple Leafs should not be overlooked. They won the division, came out firing in the first three games, and have looked like a much different team in previous years.

Were they perfect? Not in the slightest, and there are some serious concerns about their goaltending in the next round, and the team still needs to ensure their stars are going to show up when they need them to the most. The first round was a good sign but we still need to see it to believe it.

If the team has another poor showing against Florida, much like they have this season and in the past, it's going to be a very heartbreaking and miserable time for Maple Leafs fans.

Not only are Senators fans going to be laughing, but the entire league as well.
