A lot has to be said about Craig Berube's coaching tenure thus far with Toronto.

Transforming them into a more defensively sound and grittier team, he's taken the foundation of a winning team, tweaked some stuff, and made some history in the process.

Safe to say that it's night and day compared to Sheldon Keefe.

Once a locker room filled with compliments and flowery motivation was replaced by no-nonsense tough love, and no favorites regardless of how good you are; everyone needs to play the role they have been given.

Which is why it didn't surprise a couple of analysts that Berube's presence in the locker room, coupled with his lineup management was a huge reason for Toronto's success.

All the credit to Berube for sticking with what worked for him in the regular season, and while it may have irked some fans that his stubbornness during the first round was a reason Toronto lost two games in a row, but they pulled it out in the end.

Recently, Berube talked about not making many changes and enjoying the lineup he's putting out.

The team has fully bought into his game plan, and while it's not perfect, there is a different aura around this team.

They are nastier, they are hungrier, and are perfectly content with a couple of goals per night.

The changes made can be clearly seen too. Auston Matthews is being used more defensively, there's an emphasis on putting your body on the line regardless of situation, and the propensity Toronto has now for hitting guys is above and beyond what fans expected.

There's something special happening in Toronto, and Craig Berube is a huge reason as to why.

It's not going to be easy against Florida, but the Maple Leafs have only known Sheldon Keefe's style in the playoffs.

Perhaps their new head coach can rewrite history yet again.
