According to NHL Insider Frank Seravalli, the Carolina Hurricanes aren't closing the door on a reunion with forward Jack Roslovic, as his decision still remains.

With a ton of rumors and speculation surrounding Jack Roslovic this offseason, it's a bit odd that no one has really put in an offer that we've heard of, and he's been heavily linked to the Maple Leafs as well as the KHL.
He would make a solid addition to the team, and can slide up and down the lineup where needed, however his asking price might be a little too high, and until the Leafs can find a way to open up some cap and roster space, it might be too unrealistic.

Report: Jack Roslovic Linked to His Former Team

However, that might not be the only factor, and there could be some potential homesickness when it comes to Roslovic.
According to NHL Insider Frank Seravalli for Bleacher Report, the forward still has a place in the heart of the Hurricanes; but it's more about finding a spot for him:
One other thing for Carolina and Roslovic, the door isn't completely closed, but they don't really have a spot for him at the moment.

that doesn't really give a ton of hope to the Maple Leafs as it's another team in consideration for the American forward; and things are only going to get more competitive as the weeks go on.
But maybe the Maple Leafs should be a bit weary about bringing him in at all.

Why the Maple Leafs Must Be Careful When Considering Him

For as good as Roslovic is during the regular season and has two 20+ goal seasons under his belt, the fact he hasn't been as consistent with his scoring, and his lack of playoff production is a very tough pill to swallow.
There was also a lot of debate as to why he had not signed yet, and there may be some reservations in signing him so that the team can avoid buyer's remorse.
It's not that Roslovic can't be a solid addition to the team, it's more for the price they are paying him; is it going to turn into another David Kampf situation where they can't deal his contract away for a bag of pucks if they wanted to.
Plus, there's the need to actually make room for him, and if the Maple Leafs can't figure out a deal by training camp, then unless he wants to join them on a PTO; it's going to be extremely tough.
Last season, Roslovic had 39 points in 81 games (22 goals, 17 assists) with the Hurricanes and has 260 points in 526 career games with Columbus, Carolina, Winnipeg, and the New York Rangers (102 goals, 158 assists).
Not for nothing, but if the Hurricanes want to add him back in, while it would sting for the Leafs to lose out again on a potential piece; perhaps this is one piece that's best avoided unless direly needed.
