Maple Leafs goaltender Joseph Woll commented on some of his struggles this series against the Florida Panthers, seemingly trying to do too much to help the team.

Although the Maple Leafs didn't come out with the victory in Game 3, it's hard to fully blame Joseph Woll for the loss.
While he didn't play his best for sure, he did encounter some pretty bad luck altogether.
A few bad bounces capped off by an own goal off Morgan Rielly off a Brad Marchand shot, it set Woll up with the loss and leaving Florida able to start to claw their way back.

Joseph Woll Trying To Add Playmaking To His Skillset

Fans might not be too happy but Woll can only do so much.
His head coach thought he was adequate and was the victim of some bad luck, minus the go-ahead goal for the Panthers in the third.
But for Woll, he understands that he needs to be better, and part of that comes with his ability to handle the puck.
Often times he was not able to cleanly handle things and panicked, and even a couple times completely missed the puck leading to a Florida scoring chance.
He seems to be doing too much, something he noted is just meant to help:
They rim the puck a lot. So, I'm just trying to do my best to help us break out.

But he also added that just because he was a victim of bad luck, he can't mope around and needs to focus on Game 4:
You just shake it off. Like you said, bounces go both ways, and that's hockey.

So, just reset, focus on the next one. I did the same thing tonight as I always do.

Just came out on the wrong side.
It was unfortunate that he was the victim of some bad luck, but Woll does need to be better earlier on in the game.
He can hold it down in crunch time, but if he's struggling early on then it's going to be bad news.
While it's not a bad thing that he handles the puck a lot, but with how vicious and relentless Florida is on the forecheck, he needs to make sure that he can make the play he wants to make.
The only way to stop a goal is to stay in goal, something that Joseph Woll might need to learn sooner rather than later.
