Florida Panthers forward Brad Marchand played the hero on Friday night, but had some kind words for his opponents ahead of their Game 4 clash on Sunday.

It was the unfortunate result that Maple Leafs fans were hoping to avoid as the Florida Panthers ended up skating away with a 5-4 OT victory on Friday night, cutting the series lead in half thanks to a Brad Marchand overtime winner to seal the deal.
Marchand has torched Toronto for a lot of years and 2025 doesn't seem to be any different.
However, the forward did have some bold words for his opponents after securing the win for Florida, and it echoes his sentiments prior to Game 3:
You saw how they prepared for that game, they have that killer instinct now.
It was one of several goals that Florida got thanks to some unlucky bounces for the Maple Leafs. Morgan Rielly twice had the puck rebound off him into the net for a goal, and it made Joseph Woll look a lot worse than he was.
While he wasn't great, he did manage to do his best and had some seriously bad luck (but also had about four shots ring off the post too).

Toronto Outplayed Florida But Got Very Unlucky

Toronto jumped out to an early 3-1 lead before Florida quickly tied the game with goals only 67 seconds apart (sounds suspicious) before Toronto evened things up with under 10 minutes to go.

The Maple Leafs got goals from John Tavares, Matthew Knies and Morgan Rielly, meanwhile Florida countered with goals from Sam Reinhart, Aleksander Barkov, Carter Verhaeghe and Jonah Gadjovich.
The team is going to need a much better performance from their special teams in Game 4, and had several opportunities to cash in but couldn't, though John Tavares did have the only power play marker of the game.
They had that killer instinct that Marchand alluded to and while he may have gotten the last laugh in Game 3, the Maple Leaf are going to be way more motivated to head back home riding a wave of momentum.
But they couldn't get it done on Friday and gave Florida a chance to claw back into the series.
Let's just hope this was an outlier, and now that the Panthers got a taste of victory, it doesn't lead them to storming back and ending the Maple Leafs' hopes once and for all.
