Emotional News Emerges Involving Former Maple Leafs Star Nazem Kadri

The 2024-25 season has seen its fair share of former players who passed away, with the tragic passings of Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau, Stephen Peat, and most recently Mark Laforest.

Unfortunately, there was some more sad news in the hockey world. While it's not a former player themselves, someone very close to a current player has passed away.

It was reported originally by Ryan Leslie c/o C of Red Central on X, that Nazem Kadri's grandfather had passed away.

This was unfortunately the second grandfather who passed away, as Nazem Kadri; whom his grandson was named after passed away in 2013.

Pursue their passions indeed, and while Kadri's grandfather may not have understood the impact and potential his grandson had when it came to his career, there's no doubt he was watching every single time he took the ice.

And he had a ton to be proud of too. Seeing Kadri drafted 7th overall to the Maple Leafs, finding his footing, then becoming a Stanley Cup champion and one of the most consistent and top players in the league is nothing short of incredible.
