Maple Leafs forward David Kampf joined William Nylander in representing their respective countries in the IIHF World Championships in Stockholm.
As the season is over for the Toronto Maple Leafs, they are going to head into the offseason with a lot of questions that need answering, and with sweeping changes potentially in the works; things could get
very interesting for Leafs Nation. However, for the players, all they can do is rest up and prepare for next year while trying not to dwell too long on their playoff failure.
With Toronto out, are any others joining him? Turns out yes, and it won't take long for teammates to become opponents.
Defensive specialist David Kampf has made the trip to Stockholm to join Team Czechia as they try to upset the hosts; Nylander's Team Sweden.

The two are set to clash in the quarterfinals of the World Championships, and their emergence for their respective teams couldn't of come at a better time.
Sweden is going to need Nylander to keep their impressive performance alive, and build on their ridiculous goal differential during the tournament (28 to 8).
Kampf is going to be expected to help shutdown the potent Swedish side, and while he's not expected to be a huge offensive player; could end up being an X-factor for the underdogs.
Sweden ended up finishing second in Group A alongside Canada (1st), Finland (3rd), and Austria (4th) meanwhile Czechia finished third with Switzerland (1st), USA (2nd), and Denmark (4th) rounding out Group B.
The quarterfinals will see the aforementioned Czechia/Sweden game, but also have Canada facing Denmark, Finland facing the United States, and Switzerland takes on Austria.
The tournament follows the top vs. bottom format, but with intertwining groups. So Canada plays the 4th place team in Group B (Group A 1st vs. Group B 4th) and so on and so forth.
Kampf dealt with some injury troubles this season with the Maple Leafs, but still put in 13 points in 59 games (5G, 8A), winning 51% of his face-offs, 14 PIM and a minus-1 rating in only 12:24 TOI.
