One team is asking to bring on Brendan Shanahan as rumours swirl about the Leafs' President's Future in Toronto.

A report from Chris Johnston of 'The Athletic' says that the New York Islanders have asked the Leafs to speak with Shanahan.
A later report from Elliotte Friedman reported that the Toronto Maple Leafs have given permission for the Islanders to engage with talks with Shanahan.
The New York Islanders are looking for a new President of Hockey Operations after not renewing the contract of Lou Lamoriello, the former Leafs GM under Shanahan between 2015-2018.
The Isles are also without the role of General Manager, unclear if Shanahan is being considered for said job or if just for Hockey Operations, although the Islanders have already done interviews for their GM role with Marc Bergevin & Mathieu Darche.
The Islanders need a strong management group with a new era approaching, with the team currently in position of the first overall pick in the 2025 NHL Entry Draft, with it widely believed the pick will be used on one of defenseman Matthew Schaefer or center Michael Misa, as well as potentially hometown center James Hagens.

Shanahan's Toronto Future Comes Into Question With Contract Up

Brendan Shanahan, in his last season contracted with the Toronto Maple Leafs, has faced questions over whether he will be retained by the team's parent company, Major League Sports & Entertainment (MLSE).
Chris Johnston reports in his article that MLSE will be meeting with Shanahan tomorrow to have a post-season review which will almost surely involve discussions over the team's path forward, and whether or not Shanahan is in their vision.
There are no names involved in who could replace Shanahan as the Leafs president, but one possible solution may be promoting GM Brad Treliving to president to allow Brandon Pridham, a hotly talked about name as a potential future GM option, to lead the day-to-day operations as general manager.
Shanahan is not the only top name who may face an exit as rumours continue to swirl about the future of UFA Mitch Marner, who has been considered a potential sacrificial lamb for the Leafs' postseason struggles, including their most recent series loss to the Florida Panthers.
Both Shanahan and Marner could be let go in a major shakeup to enforce the beginning of a revamp for the Toronto Maple Leafs, and a new identity demanding playoff success with their star players tasked with proving themselves a contending team.
