The Toronto Maple Leafs have provided clarity of the status of their currently injured players.

Toronto Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube provided updates to the status of three players who have been knocked out due to injury.
The Leafs announced earlier today that three players, Joseph Woll, Simon Benoit, & Nicolas Roy, would be held out and would not suit up for their training camp practice, Woll dealing with an illness and injuries for Benoit & Roy.
Berube has since added an update to their unavailable players, providing new details on their timeline and how they are progressing so far.

What Craig Berube Said About the Injuries at Camp

Speaking on their three player absences, Craig Berube provided an update, saying that Roy is just «nicked up», implying that the forward is likely not dealing with any sort of major injury and should be fine going forward.
Berube also added that forward Max Domi, who has been on the sidelines at the Leafs preseason practice, will be skating with the team that will not be playing Toronto's preseason opener tomorrow against the Ottawa Senators.
Berube did not speak on the status of Simon Benoit, who is nursing an upper-body injury, leaving some uncertainty over the defenseman's current status.
Toronto may update with a new status ahead of tomorrow's match, although it's unclear the specifics of the Leafs roster for their first showing of the 2025-26 calendar.

How These Knocks Could Impact the Leafs' Preseason Lineup

The Leafs will wait and see on their unavailable players, specifically Benoit who Berube had not spoken directly on. If Benoit is dealing with any sort of issue, it opens up players with a chance at his minutes, including Philippe Myers and Henry Thrun.
There's seemingly little concern for the status of Domi, who seems close to returning and will resume skating, and for Roy who appears to have just a minor issue. Joseph Woll is dealing with just an illness and could be ready to go at some point in the preseason.
Toronto will be experimenting with it's lineup, perhaps going back to their split lineup as they've gone with in training camp, not playing all their top players at once. This could change by the end of the preseason, but Toronto may be focusing on getting different faces together, and testing out potential different pairings.
In the case of Domi, who is in contention for a potential first line spot on the Leafs roster, he could be tried on the Matthews lines, along with other competitors such as Matias Maccelli, while also experimented with on other lines as well to test fits.
In testing their preseason lineups, Toronto will be going through as much as they can to see what works early, and they'd prefer to do so with a healthy roster and avoid any uncertain question marks heading into the regular season.
