Maple Leafs GM Brad Treliving is being patient and trying to see if there are buyers for David Kampf and Calle Jarnkrok before making a trade according to NHL Insider Elliotte Friedman.

Although the Maple Leafs are going through a transition period, they are still harbouring quite a bit of former players who are still trying to figure out a place on the roster with all the new faces coming in.
Guys like Max Domi, David Kampf and Calle Jarnkrok are all potential casualties to be dealt elsewhere, not only to open up cap room but give the team a fresh look on the ice. But there have been reports the team wants to make a deal for another top-six forward, so fans are wondering when a trade will happen.

Kampf, Jarnkrok on the block but Toronto waiting for the right trade

But according to Elliotte Friedman on the last 32 Thoughts podcast of the year, the Maple Leafs are waiting to make a deal with either Kampf or Jarnkrok before rushing to make another trade:
I think one of the reasons Toronto didn't get Mangiapane, they indicated we need to move some bodies out and Magiapane didn't want to wait, Roslovic is waiting. I assume one of them is Kampf, another could be potentially be Jarnkrok, we'll leave Nick Robertson out of the rumors.

It's not surprising to hear that the Maple Leafs would be wanting to part with either man, as their names have been thrown about in trade rumors for the better part of a few weeks now.

Kampf and Jarnkrok are attractive low-cost trade targets

Both men are extremely cheap veteran contracts who would appeal to teams looking to add some more mentorship for their younger players, or be able to help out in a contending team's bottom-six.
Kampf, 30, is a defensive and penalty kill specialist who is best suited to help a contender and give them a reliable and consistent player up front who can potentially add a bit of offense too.
In 59 games with the Maple Leafs this season, Kampf had 13 points (5 goals, 8 assists) while winning 51.4% of his face-offs, and adding only 14 PIM; he makes just over $2-million this season after receiving his signing bonus.
Jarnkrok, 33, is a few years older and coming off sports hernia surgery which limited him to only 19 games with Toronto this season. He scored seven points (1 goal, 6 assists) but was essentially a non-factor and was radio silent in the playoffs.
Signed in order to bring some veteran scoring and defense, he impressed in his first season with Toronto, scoring 20 goals but has since regressed heavily with injuries and age; he's also only a $775,000 cap hit after getting his bonus as well.
So fans just need to be patient, there haven't been any buyers for either man yet. But once Brad Treliving pulls the trigger on one of them, expect a big deal to follow shortly thereafter.
