Maple Leafs GM Brad Treliving has a history of making blockbusters in July, and with the team looking to add another big name; he might be working his magic again.
The possibilities are endless for Brad Treliving but he needs to make sure they also bring the passion in addition to their skills.
Brad Treliving quietly a trade genius
Speaking of Treliving, he might be getting a bit of flak from fans for not making a splash just yet, and though there's still lots of time left, the sooner things are done, the better.
But fans should try and be a bit patient with the Leafs GM, considering his track record in the month of July.
While the one outlier on that list would be getting rid of Tkachuk, who is a two-time Stanley Cup champion with Florida, the acquisitions of Huberdeau and Weegar brought not only a proven offensive force, but one of the brightest and highest potential defensemen in the league.
Toronto's going to make a move, fans just need to wait
So if he's able to bring in that type of talent with minimal assets, there's a lot he can do with some of his current pieces.
Max Domi, Nick Robertson,
David Kampf and
Calle Jarnkrok are all trade candidates, and if he can package multiple players for an impact player; he'll have worked his magic again.
The Maple Leafs are already undergoing a big transformation in the wake of Mitch Marner's departure. They brought in defensive wizard
Nicolas Roy, traded for young playmaker
Matias Maccelli, and signed
Michael Pezzetta to replace
Ryan Reaves and add even more physicality.
Whoever it is, it's going to be impactful. Just be a bit more patient guys, and let Brad do his thing.
