The Toronto Maple Leafs appeared to lose in a shootout to the Florida Panthers, until they didn't.

Leafs Get Massive Break In Shootout Vs Florida

Evan Rodrigues scored in a shooutout for the Florida Panthers, wining the game 2-1. The Leafs began to leave the ice, disappointed fans exited Scotiabank Arena. Except the referees went back to check on the play, ruling that Rodrigues in fact double touched the puck after it was blocked by Woll, an illegal play that should have been ruled dead as it hit Woll's pad. The referees disallowed the goal, with heartbroken Leafs fans rushing back into their seats for the continuing shootout.
In an already chaotic end to the third period, where a four-minute power play for the Leafs fail to capitalize, and a league-leading 8th too-many-men penalty to Toronto near the end of regulation, things were already tense in Toronto.
In what looked to be a game winner, Rodrigues' goal was waved off, Toronto with a stunning chance to reverse the tide. Noah Gregor, who scored the sole regulation goal for the Leafs, buried the goal, with Nick Cousins being the man up for Florida. Cousins was stopped by Woll, Toronto managing to reverse what appeared to be a loss to a stunning win, pulling out a point from Florida's grasp.
For what looked to be a difficult loss in Toronto quickly within minutes turned into an unpredictable, heart racing win.
