The Perfect Candidate to Solve the Maple Leafs' Defensive Problems has Emerged
The Maple Leafs are in dire need of a new defenseman and the perfect candidate to solve the issue has emerged from a Western team.
The Perfect Leafs Blue Line Emerges
So far this year the Leafs' blue line has been struggling with staying healthy and now with players like John Klingberg confirmed to be out for the rest of the year, the Leafs need to look for somebody to fill in on the back end.
Some of the top options are big names like Noah Hanifin or Chris Tanev but there are plenty of other viable under-the-radar players GM Brad Treliving may be able to move for.
One of these is Will Borgen of the Seattle Kraken who plays a bottom pair role but he thrives in his role.
Since the start of the 2022-23 season, Borgen has played in every single Kraken game and has done a solid job. He is under contract for this season and the next.
While he may not be the flashiest player, the Leafs could plug him in on the bottom pair or middle pair and he could fend for himself. Borgen would also not cost too much as he is not as big of a name and could save the Leafs a lot in terms of value.
