Maple Leafs and Blackhawks Emerge as Perfect Trade Partners
It's a sure thing that Brad Treliving and the Maple Leafs will make more moves this off-season.
They're way over the cap limit and will need to move players in order to fit in.
Without a doubt, the most likely player to be traded first is
Matt Murray.
Murray has been a dead weight on the team and has a big salary. The Leafs also have two good goalies in
Ilya Samsonov and
Joseph Woll.
This is where the Chicago Blackhawks come in.
They are the second team in the NHL with the most cap space and they're looking for talent to support
Connor Bedard's rookie year. Most importantly, they have said they don't mind taking on bad contracts...
Murray's contract is as bad as they come. He has a year left on his $8M AAV contract and has been injured most of the time since he joined the Leafs.
If the Leafs can sweeten the deal with a young prospect, the Blackhawks could certainly take on Murray.
After all, if he's healthy next season, he could be very valuable in Chicago.
Do you think Murray will end up in Chicago?
