BREAKING: Maple Leafs organisation signs six new players
The Toronto Maple Leafs' AHL affiliate club, the Marlies, has signed six players to one-year contracts.
Here's the team's official statement:
"The Toronto Marlies announced today that the hockey club has signed forwards Jackson Berezowski, Brock Caufield, Neil Shea, Tate Singleton, and Tyler Weiss, and defenseman Nolan Dillingham to one-year AHL contracts.
This will provide the Marlies with some depth to try and compete for a Calder Cup.
The 21-year-old winger from Saskatchewan scored 81 points in 62 games with the Everett Silvertips in the WHL. He has been the team leader in points for years and the captain since 2021.
The older brother of Habs' star
Cole Caufield, Brock, spent last season in the NCAA, where he played 36 games and tallied 23 points.
Neil Shea scored 30 points in 37 games with Sacred Heart University in the AHA last year. He also appeared in six AHL games with the Chicago Wolves and scored two points.
The 24-year-old forward from New Hampshire played for Ohio State University last year. He scored 27 points in 40 games.
The 23-year-old forward was drafted in 2018 by the Avalanche in the fourth round. He has played at the University of Nebraska since then.
He recently made headlines for the dangerous hit he made on
Roni Hirvonen at the development camp. The organization decided to give him an AHL contract as they could use this style of play against other teams. It's better to have him on your side!
The Marlies will have a lot of depth and will probably be one of the top teams in the AHL!
