The Toronto Maple Leafs took a big step forward a year ago, and with plenty of moves this summer, they expect another one this year, with the hope being that several of those names can come in and contribute right away.
A veteran forward
One player they're expecting a lot from is veteran forward Tyler Bertuzzi, who has struggled through some major injuries in recent years, but now that he's healthy and in a potentially elite forward group, it's time to contribute on the ice.
Bertuzzi began his career in Detroit, and after finally making the NHL team, he set out to become a genuine power forward, posting 47, 48 and 62 point seasons in a span of four years, but unfortunately, that's when the injury bug hit.
Untapped potential
Despite that debut coming back in 2016, he's still got plenty of life being just 28-years of age, and after a bounce back season a year ago with 12 goals and 30 points between Boston and Detroit, he's shown the life that will make him a key top-six forward in this group.
On a line with Auston Matthews and Mitch Marner, Bertuzzi should get back to his career best, and after playing in 60 games a season ago, it's clear he's getting healthy again, so now, the expectations are understandably for him to have a career year.
