In breaking news, multiple members of the Toronto Maple Leafs were absent from practice today, sparking concerns about their overall health.

Liljegren and Samsonov Both Miss Practice After Anticipated Return

The Toronto Maple Leafs are in the midst of a mini-break, having played their last game Saturday and not again until Thursday. With yesterday being an off day, the Leafs were hoping for a good practice today.

Within these hopes was the anticipation that defenseman Timothy Liljegren would return today. It was expected that Liljegren would return as an extra skater for Leafs practice, however, after skating prior to the start of practice, Liljegren immediately went to the locker room.

This is unfortunate for Leaf fans, however, it is assuring that the Leafs are not rushing Liljegren back, as he will be needed for a long term run.

The other Leaf who left practice early was Ilya Samsonov. Samsonov had been suffering from an illness the past few days, and after trying to practice, talked with the training staff and called it.

Looks like Ilya Samsonov is done for today. He didn't look comfortable out there and immediately went to the bench to talk to training staff. He had been ill.

Luckily, the Leafs have plenty of time before their game against the Senators on Thursday for Samsonov to regain his strength.
