Earlier today, we reported that Tom Wilson had some complaints about the unfair officiating towards him.

Wilson isn't the only one in this situation. Referees have also placed a target on Michael Bunting's back.

Another Proof that Bunting is Targeted by Referees

Bunting's reputation doesn't help his case. He has a history of embellishment, which could explain why he's being treated that way.

During yesterday's game against Tampa Bay, Bunting received another questionable penalty when he came to the aid of John Tavares, who was surrounded by opponents.

All he did was pull a player who was close to his captain and he received a penalty. Victor Hedman, Erik Cernak, and Pierre-Édouard Bellemare were all part of the scrum, but Bunting was the only one penalized.

How is this roughing?

The Leafs won the game, but it's normal to feel persecuted when you receive unfair treatment.

Even though Bunting has that reputation, he shouldn't have unreasonable penalties called against him if he's not doing anything.

Once again, Gary Bettman's officials don't seem to care about all this, and it's obvious that they treat players differently depending on how much they like them.

It's unfortunate that change seems impossible in this league, even when it's necessary.
