Stunning Clause Revealed in Sidney Crosby's Upcoming Contract
We already knew that Sidney Crosby was a superstitious athlete. His current contract is valued at 8.7 million, in reference to his number and his birthday on August 7th.
Now, talks about his next contract are heating up.
Stunning Clause in Crosby's Next Contract?
It was reported that Crosby and the Pens will have the same kind of agreement for his next contract.
"While precisely how many seasons Crosby's next contract will cover is hard to say, there's not much mystery about the money that will be involved. It's pretty much a lock to be based on some permutation of '87,' whether it's the third in a series of contracts with an $8.7 million salary-cap hit, a deal that pays him $87 an hour, or one that's worth 87 cents per second."
Crosby's Future
There are still two years left on Crosby's contract, and at 36 years old, it's unclear how many more years he has left in the NHL.
Chances are he'll sign a short-term contract after his current deal expires, then he'll see year after year what he wants to do, like Patrice Bergeron did in Boston.
Playing after 40 years old isn't an impossible scenario. He's a great athlete and is a constant menace when he's on the ice.
