Insider Blasts Sidney Crosby for 'Diva' Antics During All-Star Weekend

The All-Star weekend is fully underway now. One NHL insider had a lot to say about one player who appears to not care much for the event.

Seravalli Blasts Crosby For Skipping All-Star Draft

Frank Seravalli went on a rant today about none other than NHL legend Sidney Crosby. He pointed out that the Penguins captain has been in the league for 18 years and yet he's only been at a few All-Star games. Even when he is selected for the event his effort level is clearly lacking. This year, he even skipped one of the events entirely, leading Seravalli to go on his lengthy rant.

"I think it's garbage that, year in and year out at All-Star weekend, when he decides to show up and play, that Sidney Crosby doesn't get more heat from anyone... A video surfaces of him skating at an outdoor rink in Montana enjoying some R&R yesterday. Why is it that every other NHL All-Star can show up and participate in the player draft but Sidney Crosby doesn't and no one says boo about it?"

Seravalli Makes False Statements About Crosby's All-Star Record

All of that being said Seravalli was not exactly correct with all of his points about Crosby. For one, Crosby has been to ten All-Star games, including this year's. He certainly is no Alex Ovechkin, who has regularly skipped the event, taking the one-game suspension instead. In fact, Crosby actually went out of his way at this year's event to address a very serious issue with a reporter, showing his class and respect for the event and the sport overall.

A reporter asked Sidney Crosby if there's a problem with hockey's culture. Crosby said he didn't think this huge scrum of "15-second soundbites" was a good venue for such a topic, and said he'd be happy to talk privately with the reporter after. Then he actually did. Good on him.

Crosby has shown that he still has it this year. He has 27 goals and 50 points in 46 games this year on a struggling Penguins team. He is single-handedly trying to carry his team to a playoff spot. The team is still in the hunt thanks to his efforts.
