Artemi Panarin of the New York Rangers appears to be having an eventful summer at home. According to reports out of Russia, the 31-year-old winger got himself into some legal trouble after sh**ting a g*n in the city of Novgorod Oblast.
"The case file states that on the afternoon of July 6, in the Tumashevo tract of Moshensky district, Panarin fired several sh*ts from a shotg*n belonging to him. He committed a gross violation of public safety, threatening the life and health of citizens. - Sport24.ru The Punishment
According to the reports, Panarin pleaded guilty to the charges, with the court noting that he is a first-time offender. His g*n was confiscated and he was ordered to pay a fine of 40,000 Rubles, the equivalent of just over $400 USD.
Trouble at Home
While this may be his first time with charges, Panarin has had his issues in his home country of Russia before. He was ostracized by many in the Russian hockey community after being openly critical of President Vladimir Putin on social media. He also left the Rangers in the middle of a season in 2021 to travel home. There was word he was concerned for his family's safety.
