The Edmonton Oilers made a surprising move prior to their game against the Ottawa Senators and that was to sit Evander Kane. Kris Knobalauch the Head Coach of the Oilers claimed it was for maintenance reasonings but Elliotte Friedman believes there's more to it.
Friedman believes the Evander Kane scratch is due to Kane not stepping up for star players
That's right, Elliotte Friedman revealed on 32 Thoughts The Podcast that he believes the Oilers scratched Evander Kane after he failed to step up for McDavid and Draisaitl.
Friedman did hint at the fact that Kane has been dealing with a few minor injuries and his play this year would support that theory. Kane has gone 16 games without scoring and for a guy that was brought in to be a physical top six scorer to fail to fulfil either role is more concerning for the Oilers.
The Oilers would lose heavily to the Senators that game and with a lack of goal scoring and defense it was not a good game for them. The Oilers will need Kane to find his game if they hope to have any success in the playoffs.
The NHL has also been paying close attention to Kane
recently punishing Kane for his actions . Kane more than likely will be back in the lineup against the Winnipeg Jets were he will look to be impactful once again.
