The Edmonton Oilers have announced their replacement for head coach Jay Woodcroft.
Oilers Choose Their Next Head Coach
The Edmonton Oilers did not take long finding a replacement for former head coach Jay Woodcroft. Woodcroft was fired after a terrible start by the team this season.
Edmonton is making a coaching change. Jay Woodcroft being relieved of his duties. Thought last nights win would buy some time, but that's not the case.
Knoblauch was McDavid's head coach with the Erie Otters before he came to the NHL. Along with this change assistant coach Dave Manson was also fired. He will be replaced by Senior Advisor Paul Coffey who will move behind the bench.
Senior advisor Paul Coffey is also stepping behind the bench as assistant coach, according to the Oilers.
With the relationship between Knoblauch and McDavid, one has to wonder how much influence Connor McDavid had on this decision. Hopefully, for the Oilers, the duo can cook up some of the magic they used to in Erie.
