Today a top 10 pick from the most recent NHL draft has been traded and will be playing hockey in a new home in the near future.
Red Wings Ninth Overall Pick Traded
Today was the CHL trade deadline around Canadian Major Junior Hockey. With this deadline looming Detroit Red Wings 9th overall pick Nate Danielson will be playing his hockey in a new home for the rest of the season.
His former team in the Western Hockey League (WHL) the Brandon Wheat Kings announced they would be trading Danielson to the Portland Winterhawks for 5 total assets.
The Wheat Kings have traded Nate Danielson to the Portland Winterhawks in exchange for forward Nicholas Johnson, defenseman Rhett Ravndahl, a first round pick in 2025 and 2027, and a fifth round pick in 2026.
This is big news for Danielson who goes from one of the worst teams in the WHL to potentially competing for a WHL title. Danielson individually is having a successful season and will look to bring speed and offensive upside to the Portland lineup.
