An article put together by NHL insider Elliotte Friedman confirmed that Gary Bettman and Corey Perry met on Tuesday. As a result of this meeting, Bettman has decided to allow Perry to sign and play with a new team immediately.
Corey Perry, whose contract was terminated by the Chicago Blackhawks on Nov. 30, met Tuesday with NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman and now is eligible to sign with other teams.

He would need to sign by the March 8 trade deadline in order to be eligible for this year's playoffs.
